Japan Commemorates Zhou Enlai Treasures

“He attracted the attention of the whole world”

A exhibition titled “The Treasures of Zhou Enlai” opened in Tokyo, Japan on November 20, 2015.

The exhibit drew many Japanese politicians, and attracted many people friendly to China. Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, the president of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party General, Toshihiro Nikai, New Komeito Party leader, Natsuo Yamaguchi, and Chinese Ambassador to Japan, Cheng Yonghua, all attended the opening ceremony.

Kong Dan, vice president of the China International Cultural Exchange Center, said that this exhibition has been successfully held in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and other sites; but this is the first international exhibit. Coming after Japan’s recent elections, this exhibit fully demonstrates the vision of friendship between the Chinese and Japanese people.

The event was organized by the China International Cultural Exchange Center, the Zhou Enlai Life Research Society and the Japan-China Friendship Center. A number of relatives gathered to commemorate Zhou Enlai; the exhibit included precious documents, inscriptions, and photographs,as well as calligraphy and paintings from a number of artists. The program is divided into several sections, including “Zhao” “public” “clear”, and “love.” Most of the exhibits are authentic originals.

Toshihiro Nikai noted thatPremier Zhou made great efforts to improve relations between Japan and China, and his achievements will forever go down in history. He said that all Japanese hav great respect for him. Natsuo Yamaguchi also said that Premier Zhou Enlai had a broad mind, a broad vision and noble personality, and so is the the great man he respects the most.

The Zhou Enlai Treasures Exhibition is free and open to the public, November 20 to 25 at the Japan-China Friendship Center Art Gallery in Tokyo.

In 1917, the 19-year-old Zhou Enlai went to Japan to seek the truth, attending university there for two years. In 1972, after unremitting efforts by China’s Premier, Zhou Enlai and other leaders of the two countries, diplokatic relations were normalized between China and Japan.
