The Nixon Library: Main Exhibit

Guests of the Zhou Enlai Peace Institute, and a special delegation of leaders from China, join for a tour of the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California. The delegation was led by Mme Liao Xinwen, of the Zhou Enlai Study Center at CCCPC, Beijing.

Highlights of the visit included the collection of sculptures, in lifelike detail, of world leaders most admired by President Nixon, including Premier Zhou Enlai.

Also featured is a full-size recreation of the exact moment when President Nixon and Premier Zhou Enlai shook hands at the Beijing Airport — February 21, 1972 — to begin the process of unfolding peace between America and China, and re-establishing full diplomatic and trade relations.

Officials of the Nixon Library accorded the visitors a warm welcome. Near the entrance is a meaningful quotation: “The greatest honor history can bestow is the title of peacemaker.”
